Colonel E. H. Taylor Barrel Proof KSBW, Old Fashioned Copper Distillery, Frankfort, KY, $1000*/btl?
Picture
**Warning** Not cheap

Big, meaty and strong. About as smooth as swallowing a mouthful of sand, and absolutely loaded with yum-yum. Pear, nutmeg, citrus, solid oak, and chocolate. And I like chocolate!

Bonus!

There's some solid sherry happening in the glass that would lead me to believe the stuff was aged in sherry casks, but I can't find anything to back that up.

I'll have it on my Bottom Shelf if I ever win the lottery.

* At retail this stuff is probably in the $300 range, but I cannot find it at retail. Online, the price listed is the cheapest I can find.

The Famous Grouse Scotch Whisky, Scotland, $25/btl?
Picture
A nice, light Scotch that reminds me a bit of Glenlivet 12, and that says a lot. Smooth and easy to drink, with a light caramel finish preceded by cinnamon and a very light smoke atypical of scotch.

For $25, the stuff is a great value, and I would stack it up there with Jim Beam Black Label as the best overvalue in it's category.

I'll be getting a bottle for the shelf, and it may become the house scotch label at Ken's Bar.

And that's saying something!
